Mission Statement:

The Professional School Counseling Program at Kennesaw Mountain High School provides comprehensive planning and advisement addressing student academic and career goals, as well as personal and social needs.  Counselors collaborate with educators, parents and the community to prepare students for success beyond high school, to compete in a global economy and adapt to a changing world.   Counselors are committed to a solution-oriented approach to handling issues.  Communication between home and school is encouraged in addressing student decision-making and problem-solving situations.

We Believe:

  • In providing a supportive, nurturing environment for every student to achieve success.

  • All student’s differences, academically and socially are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program.

  • The school counseling program supports the school’s academic achievement goals by utilizing data and the ASCA National Standards to drive program development.

  • We offer services that support academic, career and personal/social growth and all students have a right to full access of the counseling team.

  • Counseling team members utilize resources such as other educators, families, and the community to ensure success.

And That Our School Program:

  • Is comprehensive, proactive, and preventive.

  • Utilizes the ASCA National Standards as the foundation for a guidance curriculum that supports academic, career, and personal/social development.

  • Has counselors committed to personal, professional growth and demonstrates ethical professional conduct.

And the School Counselor will:

  • Be an advocate for all students.

  • Design, implement and evaluate the comprehensive school counseling program that aligns to the district’s strategic plan.

  • Recognize, Respect, Reward.
